Some Progress
The UN estimates that 235 million more people will be in dire need of humanitarian assistance in 2021. In 2020, Canada announced $740 million in much needed funding for humanitarian crises aggravated by COVID-19, and continued to demonstrate its commitment to women’s leadership in peace and security with $14.9 million for women peacebuilders.

As of February 2021, Canada invested more than $740 million in humanitarian and development assistance for the global COVID-19 response, including investments in equitable access to vaccines and debt relief.
