Robin Hood Tax
The "Robin Hood Tax" would ensure that G8 countries make much needed investments in public services, climate change and international development. It would also help curb financial speculation, which has created a casino economy that is unsustainable and risky for everyone.
Every so often, we get the chance to be part of something HUGE.
We have that chance right now, and it's called The Robin Hood Tax. A tiny fee on financial transactions paid by banks, not by people it would raise billions of dollars for fighting poverty and climate change at home and around the world.
Ideas like this often feel like they will never get any traction outside of progressive circles, but that's not the case with the Robin Hood Tax. Across the globe, world leaders from Angela Merkel to Nicolas Sarkozy, Barack Obama to Gordon Brown... they are all promoting fiscal reform.

In Canada, however, we have no such leadership. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his finance minister Jim Flaherty have dismissed the idea out of hand.
We need to let this government know that we are tired of being embarrassed on the global stage.
The Robin Hood Tax would ensure that G8 countries make much needed investments in public services, climate change and international development. It would also help curb financial speculation, which has created a casino economy' that is unsustainable and risky for everyone.
It's the right tax at the right time, and we need our leaders to say so.
